Federal Depository Library Program
Federal Government information is made available for free public use in Federal depository libraries located throughout the United States and its territories. FDLP materials are disseminated to these nationwide libraries that, in turn, ensure the public has free access to them, both in print and online. Anyone can visit and access the Akron-Summit County Public Library collection through our Business, Government & Science division, located on the first floor of Main Library.

The Akron-Summit County Public Library is a Patent & Trademark Resource Center offering access to resources from the United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) in a variety of formats. Our USPTO-trained librarians can get you started in your preliminary patent search and guide you to resources to help you launch a successful business venture.
Project Learn
Project Learn provides Summit County residents with the opportunity to achieve their educational goals by participating in free literacy, GED, college prep and English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes and tutoring. By increasing literacy, community members not only improve their lives and the lives of their families but also strengthen and improve our community.

Project Learn provides life-changing opportunities for many people who are on society’s margins. For most, our programs are their last and only opportunity to gain the basic skills that are essential for survival in the 21st Century. Project Learn is an independent agency housed in Main Library.
Educators Lab
The Educators Lab at Main Library is a place to create learning materials and other items for educational purposes. We have a variety of equipment available including Ellison Dies, laminators, and binding machines, and additional learning resources such as STEM and Educational Kits from our Library of Things collection.
Summit Memory
Digital collections of historic Summit County images and documents, produced in collaboration with our partner institutions. Collections include our general photograph collection, digitized atlases of Akron and Summit County, newspaper clippings about local rubber companies, and postcard collections containing hundreds of images of Summit County landmarks.
